Shedeur Sanders’ Breakout Debut Sparks Talk of First-Team Shot with Browns

Will Shedeur Sanders Step Up to the Browns’ Starting Line? Kevin Stefanski Responds

CLEVELAND, Ohio — After an eye-catching preseason debut, all eyes are on rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders and whether he’s ready to take the next step with the Cleveland Browns.

In the Browns’ commanding 30-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Friday night, Sanders showcased poise, precision, and an undeniable spark that has fans buzzing. His performance left many wondering: Could this be the week he finally takes snaps with the first-team offense?

So far, through 11 days of training camp — including the joint practice session against the Panthers — Sanders has yet to line up alongside established Browns weapons such as Jerry Jeudy, Cedric Tillman, and David Njoku. Coach Kevin Stefanski, while measured in his approach, acknowledged the rookie’s progress but stopped short of confirming a first-team promotion.

We’re pleased with what Shedeur is doing,” Stefanski said. “Every day is about growth, and he’s making strides. When the time is right, we’ll make that decision.

For now, the Browns seem content letting Sanders develop in a controlled environment, giving him space to master the playbook and adjust to the NFL’s pace. Yet, with his debut turning heads across the league, it’s clear that the question isn’t if Sanders will get his chance — it’s when.

With another week of camp ahead and preseason action still to come, the rookie QB’s journey is just beginning. Cleveland fans may not have to wait long to see Sanders share the huddle with the team’s top offensive stars.
