Bangladesh Stun Pakistan to Seal Historic T20I Series Victory

By Sports Desk | July 23, 2025

In a thrilling showdown that will go down in cricketing history, Bangladesh clinched their first-ever T20I series win against Pakistan, defeating the Men in Green by a narrow eight-run margin in the second match of the series held on Tuesday.

Led by Litton Das, Bangladesh defied the odds after being reduced to 28 for 4 early on. Thanks to a gutsy 53-run partnership between Jaker Ali and Mahedi Hasan, the hosts managed to post a defendable total despite yet another collapse in the middle order.

Opting to bat after losing the toss, Bangladesh found themselves in trouble within the first few overs. However, Jaker Ali’s brilliant knock of 55 runs off 48 balls, peppered with five sixes and a boundary, turned the tide. Mahedi Hasan supported well with 33 off 25 deliveries, hitting two boundaries and two sixes of his own.

The fightback brought Bangladesh to 133 all out in 20 overs, a total that looked below par but proved to be just enough on a challenging surface. For Pakistan, Salman Mirza (2/17), Ahmed Daniyal (2/23), and Abbas Afridi (2/37) were the most effective bowlers, with timely breakthroughs keeping the hosts in check.

๐Ÿ’ฅ Pakistan Crumble Under Pressure

Pakistan’s chase started off on the back foot and only got worse. Shoriful Islam and Tanzim Hasan Sakib tore through Pakistan’s top and middle order, reducing them to a shocking 47/7 by the 12th over.

With hope quickly fading, Faheem Ashraf stepped up, playing a sensational counter-attacking innings of 51 off 32 balls, which included four boundaries and a flurry of aggressive strokes. Abbas Afridi also chipped in with a handy 19 off 13.

Despite their brave resistance, the visitors were bowled out for 125 in 19.2 overs, falling just eight runs short of what could have been a remarkable comeback.

๐ŸŒŸ Hero of the Day: Jaker Ali

Jaker Ali was named Player of the Match for his crucial half-century, which turned out to be the deciding factor in this low-scoring thriller. His poise under pressure laid the foundation for Bangladesh’s fightback, and ultimately, their historic series win.

๐Ÿ“Š Series Standing and What’s Next

With this win, Bangladesh now lead the three-match series 2-0, having already made history by sealing their first-ever T20I series triumph over Pakistan.

Pakistan, now reeling from back-to-back defeats, will look to salvage some pride in the final match of the series. However, Litton Das and his side have already written their names in the record books, and the celebrations in Dhaka are well-deserved.
